The other night I watched Seamless, the 1995 documentary following Issac Mizrahi. The biggest supermodels of the 90's made cameo appearances in the film. Its hard to imagine there was a time when the world knew models on a first name basis. Now, the only models that are really known by name are ones that own their own modeling tv show (the ever so fierce tyra banks).
Just when we thought we'd never see them again, the nineties supermodels are making a reappearance and looking better than ever. Claudia, Christi, Linda, and Naomi have all booked huge ad campaigns showing they still have what it takes. Evangelista is 43 years old and is the new face of Chanel; that's simply unheard of in the modeling industry. Will the models of today ever become "super" and leave their mark on fashion history?

you have a lovely blog - trade links? i too adore gossip girl! omg i have always thought about fashion merchandise at uni but still have college to go so not sure just yet! lovely post! x
ReplyDeletethough models from today are pretty, none of them have something undeniably sexy like the women from the 90's pictured above. i feel as though the 'super' models today are merely skinny and after a few years, will not be on anyone's radar. the claudia schiffer picture looks amazing!!!

Hey your blog is really unique!!
ReplyDeleteCome check out mine some time,
Tart
I didn't realise how many of the ads were using the 'oldies'....it's great to see...
ReplyDeletethat's awesome! Im really glad they are going to be in the campaigns - their age, health and beauty really do make a statement
ReplyDeleteNaw the new models of today are all to similar: super waifs who act "unique" by all acting quirky and artsy. The only one with personality it seems is Agyness Deyn.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. And those models look great! And they're not even stick thin twenty something year olds. =)
